In February of 2004, a young woman named Maura Murray disappeared after a single car crash on a rural road in Haverhill, NH. It was 12º and though somebody spoke to her, by the time police arrived, she was gone. You can read more about Maura at or on her forum at Maura's disappearance and the disappearance a little over a month later of Brianna Maitland ( and in neighborhing VT prompted me to start searching the internet for Missing Persons in NH and along the way also started gathering information on Unsolved Homicides in NH, VT and ME. The aunt of Lorne Boulet, who is also missing, has started a blog for the NH Missing persons at Here, I will be remembering those who are believed to have been murdered.

My initial search started when a family member found a book entitled "Shadow of Death" by Philip Ginsburg not long after Maura disappeared. This book tells the story of a 'suspected' serial killer in the Connecticut Valley an area that borders NH and VT. You won't find much on the internet about these cases, since they took place in the 60's, 70's and 80's (and perhaps earlier). Below are links that have been found: (a couple of these were solved)

The last url leads one to believe that this killer was apprehended...perhaps, but there have been other cases that leave this writer is not convinced that that is true...and the fact is that cases mentioned in this post are still listed as unsolved on the Vermont State Police website at

As listed in "Valley of Death":

1. Jo Anne Dunham - Last seen June 11, 1968 - body found June 12, 1968

8. Barbara Agnew - Last seen January 10, 1987 - body found March 28, 1987

Interestingly, in the IBrattleboro forum, retired VT State Police Sr. Sgt. Martin mentions:

10. Sarah Hunter - Last seen September 19, 1986 - body found November, 1986 (VTSP site)

The following is information I have found. I am by no means suggesting that these murders are related (though some are). I just want to make sure that they are not forgotten.

When her husband arrived home at 11 p.m. that night, he wondered why the lights were off when he pulled into the driveway. When he entered the house, he found his son, Chad, who rushed to his father's arms smeared with his mother's blood.

1984 - Bearnice Courtemanche, age 16, last seen hitchhiking along Route 12 in west Claremont NH on May 30th. Her skeletal remains were found nearly 2 years later just off Cat Hole Hill road in Kellyville NH on Apr. 19th 1986. She had been hit in the head and stabbed to death. Very good run-down...there are many reasons many of the cases, especially durring the 1980s.

One Example: Sylvia Gray and Bernice Courtemanche were on say oppisite sides of the age spectrum, both were vulnerable because of their ages.

(Courtemanche- younger less wary of strangers...Gray- older, less able to fend off an attacker)

But in both cases bludgeoning, or serious blows to the head as well as knife wounds...Then, finaly, where Bernice Courtemanche was found on a ridge along Cat Hole Hill road near where someone can gaze westward and see down into the valley to the edge of the village of Plainfield where Gray was killed.

Helena, thank you for creating this blog. I hope that we can discuss these cases here. I have to wonder, too, about the cases in Quebec that resemble that of Theresa Allore. Is it possible that they are also related to some of these cases in ME, NH, VT?
I think it's so important to carry on the work that Silky was doing, in our own way.

Btrbl, I hope it is!
My recollection is of reading that Ms Tay was found outside, not inside a trailer. I think the articles are still available on the Caledonian Record site.

emw, I will check about both of those cases.

Perhaps one way to approach this is to look at which cases have, or appear to have, details in common.
Some possibilities:
* on or near specific roads, for example, Interstates I-91, I-93, I-95, I-89, Rt 2, Rt 302, Rt 3 in NH
* vehicle found abandoned, with or without physical evidence of foul play
* day and time reported missing plus time found, if known
* factors in common, for example, nursing students, counselors, clinicians
* locations last seen - often convenience stores, gas stations
* kinds of injuries sustained

I don't know how possible this is, but I'm also interested in "accidental deaths" or "suicides" which seem possibly questionable - I would absolutely put Pauline Clark in this category.

jmlh, of course! You and I both as well as one or two expert criminal profilers!

Sophie Bean,

Over the past few months I've been mulling over the idea of creating something tangible e.g. decks of cards that can be handed out in the prisons up in the New England.

Again, it's just an idea/pipe dream but I'm currently brainstorming on how to best utilize 52 cards.

This is an sampling of some of Lovie Riddles notes. This is from the Lewiston Daily Sun Saturday morning Sept 10th 1988.

Riddle stated to Detective Peter Herring that he had killed as many as 30 people over the past 13 years. On Aug 24th he recounted to Herring details of numerous homicides and as many as 35 kidnappings in several states and Canada. On Sept 9th he told reporters the material was for a novel he planned to write.
Described as a transient who worked as a cook at inns in Boothbay Harbor and Jackson, NH.
An affidavit filed with the Bridgton District Court complaint states Riddle offered a ride to a woman walking along rt 302 in Fryeburg Aug 13th ('88)and then pulled off on a dirt road and forced her to commit oral sex.
Riddle told Herring in a 2 and a half hr interview of "participating
in and being present at numerous homicides" as a mmber of the Outlaws motorcycle gang.
The document said Riddle did not want his attorney present during the interview because he wanted to get help and not get out of jail."If it takes 50 or 100 years, get me off the street. Keep me in there till I die, if it will help.."
Herring read from the notebooks. In part,"In the last 13 years I've allowed this force at least 30 times. The same force that drove me to kill in '83 is driving me again"
"The defendant told of kidnapping children in the US and Canada" the affidavit said. " He indicated that he participated (in more than)35 kidnappings." Among the events described, the document said.
* kidnapping a 4 yr old from Tenn. and delivering him to Quebec.
*Kidnapping a girl named Nicolo aged 8 or 9 from Canada in '86 and transporting her to Texas where he believes she was killed.
*Killing of a male, mutilating his body and dumping it along interstate 10 in Beaumont.
*Shooting a female to death and throwing her young child into a river.
*Being present when a 17 yr old girl was beaten to death with a hammer in Tenn.
*Killing a female in Cape Cod by beating her with a soda bottle and leaving her body under an overpass.
* Beating a female in CT near Hartford.
* Killing two game wardens in 79 and burying their bodies in a field.
Will finish late. thanks for "listening" Jan

Assistant District Attorney Patricia Mador also outlined in the affidavit " a long record of violent crimes" Including convictions for grand larceny, assault with intent to ravish and fraud. She said he had over a period of time been arrested on charges of murder, obtaining drugs by fraud, jumping bail, failing to appear in court in response to a traffic charge, and numerous violations of parole as a result of the convictions. The defendant has a record in Florida,Alabama,Iowa and Illinois. He has also spent 2 years time for possession of a firearm by a felon." The murder charge was dropped. details were unavailable. History also included 2 convictions for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Riddle was charged in Waldo County District Court in Belfast on June 5, 1988 with rape. the charge was later dismissed because of contradictions in the womans testimony.
Riddle staed that he worked at the Eagle Mt house in Jackson NH for 3 yrs.

Hi Jan, of course you are welcome! Thank you for posting the information about Riddle - it seems possible that he is involved in a number of these cases. Interesting that he mentions Quebec as well, because there are a number of cases there that seem similar. The Lewiston Sun article was from 1988. After 1988, when was Riddle out of jail? If the crimes he describes were from 1975-1988, what crimes has he committed since 1988, and where was he when he wasn't in jail? Thanks!

Elsewherebriefly, do you mean something like a listing of crimes and unsolved missing persons cases, distributed to gather information? It could help.

I don't think that Silky suggested that all of these cases are related - I'd like to think about which ones might be related.

Something that makes me wonder about some of Riddle's statements in this article is that in one place he speaks about participating in crimes as a member of a biker gang, but elsewhere he speaks about this "force" that drove him to kill. The two don't seem very consistent to me. Also the business about wanting to write a novel - what that he claims is real, what is fiction? Sounds pretty grandiose, which makes it even harder to figure out what he has done.

Hey Jan,

Over on Maura's forum we formed 'The Pointy Boot Brigade' and you are always more than welcome to join us!

While I was at the grocery store the other day I overheard some tourists talking. One of them stated she was from Chadburn which is on the Tennesee border. It got me thinking about a number of Jane Doe's listed here in NC. Thanks again for posting those articles about Lovie a.k.a Bear.

Sophie Bean,

I've been going over articles and determining which missing persons cases and unsolved homicided do not have suspects.

Also trying to find common threads with the homicides e.g. blunt force trauma to the head, stabbings, and placement of the victims.

I recently came across a homicide in early 2000 on the NH AG's site. Carrie Lavallee found in the Conn River/Hinsdale NH. Donna Whiteside was also found in a river in Hampton during this timeframe. Donna was from Dracut and a known drug user. Lavallee was from Nashua.

Like yourself, I've been thinking about Pauline Clark quite a bit these days.

While going through my hand written notes I came across the name Sarah Langis found in the Conn. River/Goffstown 2004. Does her name happen to ring a bell?

Sounds like Lovie was active between 1975-1988 and 1999-2005. Again, Helena and I discussed Route 302 prior to Maura's site shutting down. Interesting how Lovie mentions Route 302 in his confession.

I know my clothing was kept for evidence and never returned to me. Is evidence kept indefinitely or destroyed or what? Sophie are you in the Augusta area? If so The Maine state library has the microfilms of newspapers that covered the story of "The Interstate Man" as he called himself.

Hi Firecat and everyone!
It's certainly nice to have a site where anonymous posting isn't allowed - we can discuss in relative peace!

Jan, the dates when "Lovie" was out and possibly active certainly coincide with many missing persons and unsolved murders. The mention of Rt 302 is very significant, I think. If you look at 302 from Maine in the east to VT in the west, there are a really large number of these cases occuring close to that route.

OK, here are some of the additions to our lists:

1969 - Debra Lee Horn, Allenstown NH
1971 - Luella Blakesey, Hooksett NH
2000 - Carrie Lavallee, CT River,Hinsdale NH
2000 - Donna Whiteside, Hampton NH
2004 - Sarah Langis, CT River, Goffstown NH [note: while there was reportedly "no evidence of foul play" - I've heard reports of several cases where there were at least two versions of the autopsy results]

Jan, do you happen to know when Riddle was at the Eagle Mtn House in Jackson NH? That is very near where Louise Chaput was found murdered in Pinkham Notch in Nov 2001.[sorry, I remember now that the article was from '88, so it was before that - still, he'd be familiar with the area]
Also, I'm close enough to Augusta to go find the films - thank you!

As elsewherbriefly [waves!] pointed out:
"Sounds like Lovie was active between 1975-1988 and 1999-2005."
The first set of dates really runs parallel to the documented CT Valley murders. That's interesting.

Hi elsewhere. I'm not surprised to hear that. I don't remember exactly when NH got its very own ME, but until not that long ago, they were having Maine do autopsies.
IF the NH ME has been signging off on autopsies, how many "accidental deaths" were actually suspicious? Did the ME sign off on Pauline Clark's autopsy? on Patric McCarthy's? How many others?

Hi Jan. I've had trouble logging in from time to time as well.

It's TRUE! Blogspot does not allow anonymous posters!
Obviously, if anyone has information that is important to ANY investigation, they should give it where it is appropriate - and I certainly understand that some of that information could be of a nature that you would want to remain anonymous.

However, it is a relief to not have people able to anonymously post here saying "how DARE you criticize the fabulous states of NH, VT, ME, QC etc etc etc!!!" Gosh, there's plenty of places where you can do that, and are doing so right this very moment.

The issue here is unsolved cases, specifically unsolved homicides, and also missing persons cases. Homicides have a victim, and they have families seeking answers. If you don't like that, go start a blog about how families of victims, and families of mssing persons, SHOULDN'T seek answers and justice.
As Shack would say "Pfffft!"

Who's "policing" whom?

It is a great place to keep track of new cases in each state as well as older missing persons cases and homicides that have been re-opened for re-examination.

In the past year I came across a missing persons case from Nashua back in the early 70's that has been re-opened.

David Pickett

Early morning on Feb. 4, 1993, 59-year-old David Pickett was found dead on New Castle Beach between the commons and the Coast Guard Station. Pickett, a longtime resident of New Castle, was found in winter clothing, his boots neatly placed beside him. His throat was slit and he was lying in a pool of blood.

Lt. Doug Cummings of the New Castle Police Department said he's one of the only active officers who was with the force at the time. Cummings said police did have a suspect who has since passed away. Police never had enough information to charge him and the case will always remain open, he said.

Could you explain the significance of the placing of the shoes, because I have never understood that. I remember on MMM that there was talk of "shoes being placed facing in opposite directions" but I didn't get it. Thank you.

Blogger elsewherebriefly said...

It has been extremely hot down here the past few days so I've been remaining cooped up in the house with the A/C. Spending more time on my laptop than usual.

Kaz & MJA Inc. were one of the first search teams to arrive at Brianna's crash site. They photographed, documented, and submitted everything they observed and found to the VSP.

In one of their albums provided online I came across an old an worn pair of brown lace up shoes were beside the road.

When I brought it up on chat one night Kaz explained to me that this is a common pattern, placement of shoes near victims, amidst serial killers.

Most of the time the shoes will be placed faced in opposite directions. The brown lace up shoes near Bris' crash site were placed in opposite directions.

Whether victim's boots were placed in opposite directions was not noted in the above article but the word 'neatly' sort of got my hinky meter going if you know what I mean.

It was a cold winter day. The victim did not take his boots off on his own.

On November 10, 1985, the skeletal remains of an adult female and one female child were located in Allenstown, NH. On 05-09-2000, the skeletal remains of two additional female children were recovered. DNA testing confirmed that two of the children were biologically related to the adult female. All four victims may be biologically linked, but DNA results are still pending. The adult was estimated to be between 23 and 32 years of age, was 5'02" to 5'07" tall, and had curly light brown hair. The three children were estimated to be 1) 5-10 years of age; 2) 4-8 years of age; and 3) 1-3 years of age. The 5-10 year old child was approximately 4'-03" tall, had double-pierced ears, and had dark blonde or light brown hair. The 4-8 year old child was approximately 3'-08" tall and had a noticeable overbite. The 1-3 year old child was approximately 2'-05" tall and had fine blonde hair, approximately 8-12 inches in length. All four decedents are believed to be Caucasian or Native American and they are believed to have died in the early 1980's. The four decedents are entered into the UDRS under ME case numbers 85-1050, 85-1051, 103-00 and 104-00.

St. Peter was found off the Campground Road in Anson at 1200 hours on 07-05-80.

Contact Maine State Police, CID II, 36 Hospital Street, Augusta, ME 04330, telephone (207) 624-7143

Contact the Maine State Police, Criminal Investigation Division with information regarding this murder. You may also report information about this crime using the online Report a Crime form.

You'll probably have to copy and paste each part of that url or just search for Maine State Police and click on Criminal Investigations and Homicides.

Unsolved: Kathy Lynn
Updated: Saturday, 16 May 2009, 10:44 PM EDT

Bob Ward
FRANKLIN, NH (AP) - In 1971, the murder of a thirteen year old girl stunned a small New Hampshire town. No one has ever been arrested for the murder of Kathy Lynn Gloddy, but after all this time, the case is getting new attention. New England's Unsolved shows us the victim's family is more hopeful than ever that this case will be solved.

Bob's blog on Kathy Lynn Gloddy
"Earlier this week, I experienced one of the most moving moments I've ever experienced in the ten years we've been presenting New England's Unsolved."

Read and respond here

At St. John's cemetery in Tilton, NH, Ann Marie Ring and Janet Young leave flowers for their youngest sister, Kathy Lynn Gloddy, murdered in nearby Franklin in 1971, holding each other at Kathy's grave, these sisters are more determined than ever to find Kathy's killer. “That's what we are praying for every day, that someday the Gloddy family will have answers,” Ann Marie says.

On November 21, 1971, Kathy Lynn Gloddy was 13 years old, and in eighth grade. Kathy lived in a home with her parents, and five brothers and sisters. “She was a sweet little girl. She was always bubbly,” Ann Marie says. That afternoon, at about 5pm, Kathy left the house to walk to a nearby convenience store with her German Shepherd, Tasha. Kathy never made it home, but Tasha did, “I let the dog out thinking, jeez, you're crazy, just crazy. I let the dog out. Didn't realize the dog was searching for her master,” Karen Beaudin, Kathy’s sister, said the family immediately knew something was drastically wrong.

“That wasn’t like her at all, or any of us. We never did it. We always came home by the time we were supposed to be there,” Janet, Kathy’s sister says. Late the next day, Kathy's body was found on the other side of town, “I went into the kitchen by myself and I put my face into the corner of the wall in there and just, by myself. I just sobbed,” Karen says. An autopsy determined Kathy Gloddy was beaten, raped, and strangled. Her body had been run over by a car. “They backed up over her, ran back over her forward, backed up over her again, and then ran over her again, and went forward. So, she was run over four times,” Karen says. “Who could do this to a child? No matter the circumstances, who could take a human life?” Ann Marie says.

NE Unsolved: Kathy Lynn Gloddy

Earlier this week, I experienced one of the most moving moments I've ever experienced in the ten years we've been presenting New England's Unsolved.

On Monday, I was in Franklin, NH with Fox 25 photographer Jenn Platt. We were invited to join two sisters, Janet Young and Ann Marie Ring, as they were shown, for the first time in 38 years, the exact spot where their sister, Kathy Lynn Gloddy was brutalized and murdered. The site is not far off Webster Street in Franklin, NH. But the log road that leads to the murder scene is now over grown and hidden. Yet it has always been there.

Former NH State Police Major Crimes Division Investigator Jim Conrad, who recently worked on the Gloddy case, led us, along with Private Investigator Tom Shamshak, to the spot. We could not have found it without Jim. When Jim found the opening to the log road off Webster Street, we immediately started climbing a hill, and fought our way through young tree branches. For any of us, it was just a walk in the woods. But this was much more than that. We were all very quiet; there wasn't much to say.

Suddenly, without warning, we stopped at what once was a clearing in the woods. We all stopped. And Jim simply said, "This is where Kathy was found."

Ann Marie and Janet brought flowers and a plaque. They held hands as they walked to the spot, and carefully placed the flowers on top of the leaves that carpeted the ground. "I love you, Kathy," I heard Ann Marie whisper.

More than two years later, this is the last news of the case:

Louise Brochu, New Portland, ME - 6/07
Brochu slaying still unsolved
Staff Writer
the Kennebec Journal

NEW PORTLAND -- Saturday will mark exactly three months since police declared Louise Brochu's death a homicide, after a neighbor alerted them he had found her body outside New Portland Wood Flooring, early on the morning of June 8.
The buzz that pervaded this Carrabassett River valley town of fewer than 800 people has subsided. But that doesn't change the fact that family and friends of the 50-year-old businesswoman want to know -- as much as ever -- who killed her.

Maine State Police detectives -- also as much as ever -- want to provide them with the answer.
"We're still working on it every day," said Lt. Gary Wright, one of the many investigators who showed up at the Route 27 crime scene on June 8.

"The crime lab is still going through its investigation. The crime lab is inundated with cases."
Investigators are still dissecting information, Wright said.
"We're still out interviewing people and re-interviewing people," he said. "Our detectives are still working in the area. There are things behind the scenes people might not notice."

For a month or so following Brochu's death, it was all people talked about. Now, in the waning days of summer, concern regarding the future of tiny Central Elementary School is the topic du jour.

"Talk stopped a while ago," said Town Manager Andrea Reichert. "People still obviously hope they solve it."
Brochu's brother Jim, one of her six surviving siblings, indicated Thursday that progress is being made.
"Probably next week I'll talk to you more," Jim Brochu said. "The end of next week."
Brochu said that family members still are wondering why someone would kill her. Wright would not say if the person or persons who committed the crime stole anything from Louise Brochu's sprawling residence and business.

"They're shaking some trees, I guess," he said of the police investigation. "Something will be going on pretty soon, I guess. We're still anxious to find out what's going on, but we're still patient."

Born in Quebec, Brochu was part of a business-minded family. The family has strong ties in Stratton, home to J.L. Brochu, a logging company. Louise Brochu worked with her brother Jim there, and as a safety coordinator with brother Adrien at A&A Brochu. New Portland Wood Flooring was for sale at the time of her death.

Brochu Partners LLC had purchased the business for $500,000 at auction in November of 2002. Town records indicate Louise Brochu and business partner Claude Boulet were leasing the business from Brochu Partners. Louise Brochu and brothers Guy, Luke and Jimmy were listed as owners of Brochu Partners, according to the records.
Boulet said he had spoken to Brochu on the telephone the night before her body was found.

Please use this site as a form for discussion, insight, knowledge management. I will do my best to keep things running, and to be the administrator for making connections, facilitating contacts.

Carrie Moss was going out with my brother at the time of her death. She was a runaway and was staying with us. My sister myself and carrie went to a party one night with these new older guys out in NewBoston, my sister and I left in our own car, but Carrie wanted to ride with the guys. So she got into the van, and that was the last time anyone of us has heard or seen her. God Bless her soul.

* Killing a female in Cape Cod by beating her with a soda bottle, leaving her body under an overpass.

Connie Cooper and Patrick Fee, Cottonwood, California
Working together, this husband and wife driving team saved a woman from certain death when they pulled her from the center lane of an interstate highway under an overpass where she had been thrown after being attacked. Officials speculate her attacker threw her into the path of traffic to destroy evidence. Cooper and Fee dodged and sidestepped traffic to pull the woman to safety; and later, courtroom testimony based on the victim's conversations with Cooper, led to the arrest of a suspect and his subsequent conviction and imprisonment.

* Shooting a female to death and throwing her young Child into a river.

Here is my opinion on mother and child:

Case Type:Unidentified
Case Number: NCMU1103997
DOB: Jan 1, 1980
Found: Dec 5, 1982
Sex:Female Age Now: 31
Race: White
Height: 2'6" (76 cm)
Hair Color:Blonde
Eye Color: Unknown
Weight: 25 lbs (11kg)
Missing State : MS
Missing Country: United States

Case History
The victim was located in the Dog River, beneath the westbound lane of I-10 in Pascagoula, MS, on December 5, 1982. She was apparently thrown off the Interstate 10 bridge 36 - 48 hours prior to discovery.

Her body was found when a trucker called authorities to report a body of an adult wearing a blue plaid shirt and blue jeans, floating in the river. The Jackson County Sheriff's Office believes the body is the mother of the child found floating in the river. Detectives said the theory is based on the fact that a woman, who was obviously distressed and carrying a child, was seen walking on Interstate-10 on the previous Friday night. This is further confirmed by a Moss Point woman who was monitoring CB conversations that night. She said "truckers were 'raising-a-boat-load-of-Hell' between midnight Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday because a woman and child were walking on the interstate and refused to let anyone help her."

Authorities said a woman wearing a blue plaid shirt and blue jeans and carrying a child was seen near the scales at the Alabama line walking west on the interstate. She was reported walking in the westbound lane. A man who saw the woman said a pickup truck stopped but she refused to get into the truck.

Authorities speculate the woman may have thrown the child into the water and then jumped. The baby still had a breath of life because she had sucked in some of the murky water into her lungs.
It is unclear if the body of the woman was recovered.

The unidentified toddler is buried in Jackson County Memorial Park. Deputy Moore and his wife stepped forward and made sure the little girl was given a proper funeral and burial in 1982. 200 people attended the young girl's funeral.

Laureen Ann Rahn

Vital Statistics at Time of Disappearance

Missing Since: April 26, 1980 from Manchester, New Hampshire
Classification: Non-Family Abduction
Date Of Birth: April 3, 1966
Age: 14 years old
Height and Weight: 5'4, 90 pounds
Distinguishing Characteristics: Brown hair, blue eyes. Laureen has a prominent scar on her upper leg, resulting from a fall onto broken glass.
Clothing Description: A white v-neck sweater, a blue plaid blouse, jeans, brown shoes, a heart-shaped gold ring and a silver/blue necklace.

Details of Disappearance

Laureen resided with her mother, Judith Rahn, in an apartment on Merrimack Street in Manchester, New Hampshire. She was a student at Parkside Junior High School and made good grades. She was last seen at her home during the evening hours of April 26, 1980. Two of Laureen's friends saw her approximately one hour before her disappearance and reported that nothing was amiss at the time. She has never been heard from again.
Judith discovered that she had been charged for three California phone calls on October 1, 1980, three months after Laureen disappeared. Judith did not have any friends or relatives in California at the time. Two of the calls had been placed from a motel in Santa Monica to another motel in Santa Ana. The third call was placed to a teen sexual assistance hotline. Authorities attempted to question the physician who maintained the hotline, but they were unable to ascertain if he knew any details about Laureen's case.

An investigator followed up on the hotline tip in 1985. A man identifying himself as a plastic surgeon answered the call. He said that numerous runaway girls occasionally visited his wife at their home. He also told the investigator that one of the young women may have been from New Hampshire. The individual claimed that Annie Sprinkle, a woman who allegedly worked with his wife in the fashion industry, may have had information concerning several runaways. Authorities learned that Sprinkle was involved in the pornography industry and scanned several of her films in an attempt to locate Laureen. No evidence linking Sprinkle to Laureen's disappearance was discovered and she has never been implicated in her case.

An investigator visited California on Judith's behalf in 1986 and located the two motels involved in the October 1980 phone calls. Authorities said that one of the establishments may have been used by a child pornographer named "Dr. Z." Investigators were unable to link "Dr. Z" to the teen hotline and it is not known if pornography was involved in Laureen's disappearance.

One of Laureen's family members reported seeing a girl matching her description in a Boston, Massachusetts bus terminal in 1981. Judith received phone calls around the Christmas holidays for several years from an unknown individual. She said that the person listened silently when Laureen's sister answered the phone, then terminated the call shortly afterwards. The calls stopped after Judith changed her phone number several years after Laureen vanished.

Investigators continue to suspect that foul play was involved in her case, which remains unsolved.

Could it be that a teenager had been pregnant, runaway from home and had the baby? Therefore accounting for no one claiming the child after the mother was gone. Maybe along the Interstate 10 bridge, Mother and child had a run-in with the Outlaws who were known to ride along Interstate 10. If she found out she was pregnant in early 1980 and in April had a plan to runaway to Cali to have her baby, the timing of the age of the child would be correct with the age of Jane Doe PASCAGOULA MISSISSIPPI UNIDENTIFIED and would explain why Laureen called the Hotline

Lastly, Involving the murder case of Lizzie Tomlinson, 1980 I have found a very strong resemblance between the suspect drawing in her horrible murder and Lovie Lee Riddle. I have a side-by-side comparison of the suspect drawing in the Tomlinson case, 1980 vs. registered sex offender Lovie Lee Riddle Jr. age 65, he would have been 33-years old at the time of the crime. There is an uncanny resemblance and oddly their wearing the almost the same sunglasses. if you ask i will send the side-by-side to you.

Let me know whatcha think and any other information you can find!

To me it seems the killer of the Connecticut River Valley was from the area. He / she seemed to have a familiarity to the area knowing where to dispose of the bodies or where to commit the murders.

For example : Connecticut River Valley Killer - Wikipedia
On May 20, 1984, 16-year-old Heidi Martin went for a jog in Hartland, Vermont, on Martinsville Road. The next day, her body was found in a swampy area behind Hartland Elementary School. She had been raped and stabbed to death.

To me from google maps it appears the school is off of the main roads and in my opinion someone would probably be familiar with the area to know of that location.

Seems that someone that would kill people in such a vicious way could get away with it for so long. That is I'm surprised he / she hasn't been arrested already , in a psychiatric hospital, or deceased.

My guess is he / she is from the area has a familiarity with the school either attended that school or had some type of business dealings that would give him a familiarity with the school.

Maybe a commonality with the area's the bodies where found , that is why would someone be familiar with the different locations where the victims were found. Seems that the killer for some reason felt comfortable committing the crimes in these areas or disposing of the victims there.
